Male, 9 years old, any ethnicity; the son of a Roman officer. Notoriously wry to all non-Roman people and animals alike. But in a sick burn kind of way. You might laugh and then cringe at his pointed insults. Clever to a point but also a little dense. Secretly, he wants to belong and he wouldn’t mind someone telling him what to do – but he would never let on…RECURRING

Storyline: The Chosen: The Adventures of Abby and Joshua is an eleven-minute animated adventure comedy about 9-year-old Abby in the Galilean city of Capernaum, circa 30 CE. Abby has a deep desire to learn about the world and about Torah and about…wasps. Really any and everything that catches her imagination, she wants to know about it. Her curiosity and good intentions are limitless — or so they seem to her salt-of-the-earth parents. The Chosen: The Adventures of Abby and Joshua is an adventure comedy that will run the full gamut of human emotion. Bust a gut and call out for the remote to rewind? Yes. Secret cry from the next room when the kids are sweet to their parents? Check. Preach on screen? Negative. You, the viewer, might wanna preach after a scene or an episode but only because the characters’ actions and their stories made you say “Hallelujah.” Narrative cause precedes effect and our characters act within the realm of the world and its story — they do not preach. A central, biblical lesson/tenet/parable/psalm/proverb/etc. is, however, planted in every episode although you may not even hear it the first time through.
