Male-Presenting; Open Ethnicity; Role Has Substantial Acting + Singing; Treble Voice; Ideally Cast With Someone Who Appears To Be 6-10 Years Old. Can Read Slightly Older. Should Have Movement Experience. Actual Actor Age Should Be 6-12 Years Old (With Flexibility). Range D3 To E5. Must Sing Extensively In Solo And Complex Ensembles. The Mother Of This Role, Laura Brown, Will Be Played By Kelli O’Hara.
Storyline: Pulitzer Prizewinning composer Kevin Putss hit new opera, which played to sold-out audiences during its world-premiere production last season, triumphantly returns. The original trio of legendary divassopranos Renée Fleming and Kelli OHara and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonatoreprise their celebrated portrayals of three women from different eras whose lives are connected through Virginia Woolfs novel Mrs. Dalloway. Bass-baritone Kyle Ketelsen also returns as the dying author Richard, and Kensho Watanabe conducts Phelim McDermotts gripping staging of this heart-wrenching drama, adapted from Michael Cunninghams acclaimed novel and the Oscar-winning film it inspired.
